speaker AND CHAIR procedure

FOR SPEAKERS:

When preparing your presentation for ECPP2010 please make sure to save the presentation to a USB preferably using Windows XP or Office 2007. On the day of your scheduled presentation hand the USB over to the ECPP Staff in charge of the designated conference room.

Please make sure that you give the presentation to the ECPP Staff well in advance of the presentation providing the staff with sufficient time for making the session ready.

There are many sessions and the schedule is tight so, once again, please help us out here.

FOR CHAIRS:

As Chair of a session you are responsible for introductions, facilitation, timekeeping and closing of the session.

There are many ways to go about this but we ask you to consider the following:

  • Individual speakers should be introduced briefly so that the audience has sufficient background knowledge.
  • The time scheduled for each presentation should be respected to a degree that the session as a whole will function successfully.
  • Sometimes it may seem pedagogically rational to change the proposed order of the presentations. However, there may be participants who have planned to move between sessions who could be bothered by this.  In case you wish to change the announced order of the presentations, you should try to get consensus about this at the introduction of the session.
  • It is often a good idea if, the Chair conludes the session as sole dicussant briefly commenting on the individual contributions and offering a few perspectives towards the future based on the content of the session.
